China's first full-size 6-layer thin wall steel structure house successfully passes experiment in the laboratory of Chongqing University on June 8, which is the first time in the world and lays a foundation for China's construction of high-rise building of thin wall steel structure.
The laboratory of Chongqing University has a clear height of 25.5m.Its surface size of 6.1m*6.1m, and maximum weight capacity of 60t can input the earthquake based on 3-direction and 6-degree of freedom, and is one of the vibration tables which have the largest table surface size, dead weight capacity and anti-capsizing moment in China. This time, a 6-layer full-size solid cold-formed thin wall steel structure house is set up on the vibration table, with the total height of 16.2m, length of 5.6m and width of 4.2m. The steel tube end column-two-sidedskin steel plate shear wall and support single-layer thin steel plate shear wall (two new lateral force resistance systems) are adopted. Compared with the vibration table test of cold-formed thin wall steel structure completed at home and abroad, the vibration table test of cold-formed thin wall steel structure this time has a series of features, such as new structural system, large structural height-width ratio, loading condition intensity reaching 8-degree rare condition, and test per construction stage and normal use stage.
This test project comes from the National Key Research and Development Program Research and Model Application of High-performance Steel Structure System and National Natural Science Foundation's Major Program Research on Efficient Anti-seismic System of Steel Structure. According to Academician Zhou Xuhong, "this experiment is the first vibration table test of 6-layer full-size cold-formed thin wall steel structure house of bidirectional seismic motion input in the world".
